PORPOISING
Podocarpus on walnut
26 x 30 x 10"
$2,000
A neighbor brought me this big podocarpus log with two trunks growing together. I had to wrestle it to carve anything. It changed subject matter three times before my husband saw the mermaid on the porpoise.

MACULATE MOON
Spalted black walnut on hickory
16 x 16 x 16"
$3,500
Moon shells are my favorite of all the local shells. Ours are pretty ordinary looking, but the maculated ones I saw in a shell book were as wonderful and multi-colored as the spalted woods that I favor. This piece of black walnut has a strange knot that I was able to use as the center eye of the shell. Top view Larger view Another view
